Laboratórne vyšetrovacie metódy v zdravotníctve

The aim of the study is to prepare graduates to solve the most complex problems of laboratory medicine, which requires the acquisition of comprehensive knowledge and necessary skills in basic medical subjects, the basics of pathology and preclinical disciplines, laboratory examination methods used in medicine, the basics of clinical disciplines, the basics of the application of laboratory methods in therapeutic and preventive activities, the subjects necessary for the evaluation of the results obtained by the output of laboratory and clinical methods as well as computer technology.



Prospects of graduates

Working in laboratory medicine departments (clinical biochemistry, haematology and transfusiology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, toxicology, pathological anatomy, clinical pharmacology, functional diagnostics as well as in related diagnostic fields e.g. forensic laboratories, etc.) Graduates are able to work effectively as members of a research team, organise their own training and keep in touch with developments in their field, as well as apply ethical principles in their practice.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to the two-year Master's study programme in the external form of study (completed by obtaining the degree "Mgr") is:

- completion of the first level of the study programme Laboratory Investigation Methods in Health Care,

- professional experience, in one of the fields of laboratory medicine at the position of a medical laboratory technician, lasting 1 year, documented by the employer.

An applicant who has completed his/her studies of the first level of higher education abroad must submit a decision on the equivalence of the achieved education in the study programme Laboratory Investigation Methods in Healthcare.
Another condition of admission to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and prerequisites are admitted to the study is the admission procedure. Applicants must submit:

  1. medical fitness to study certified by a doctor - forms here
  2. Hepatitis "B" vaccination confirmed by a doctor
  3. the results of the entrance exam will be published on the faculty's website,
  4. applicants who demonstrate the highest level of aptitude for studies, i.e. achieve the highest number of points, will be admitted to the course.
  5. An applicant who has completed university studies abroad shall submit nostrified documents of education in accordance with Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the Recognition of Documents of Education and on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts.
    6. Those applicants who have not passed the matriculation examination from Slovak or Czech language must also pass a test from Slovak language - level B1, which will be prepared by the faculty and in which it is necessary to achieve a minimum of 60% success rate.


Additional information

Applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies in the academic year 2023/2024 and earlier will send all necessary attachments with their application . Applicants who will complete their Bachelor's degree in the academic year 2024/2025 will submit all necessary attachments except for the documents of completion of Bachelor's degree - diploma, certificate, diploma supplement - according to the instructions of the faculty. The faculty will send an invitation to the applicants one month before the admission examination. Applicants who will not have been issued documents of completion of higher education in the relevant study programme on the date of the entrance examination shall submit a certificate of successful completion of bachelor studies in the relevant study programme.

The faculty shall issue a certificate of successful completion of bachelor studies in the relevant study programme.

2. proof of payment of the admission fee of 40,-€
3. certified documents of completion of the bachelor's degree - diploma, diploma certificate and diploma supplement (applies to applicants who graduated in the academic year 2023/2024 and earlier. Applicants who will finish their Bachelor's degree in the academic year 2024/2025 will provide a certificate of attendance and a transcript of results of studies for the closed period
4. a certificate of medical fitness to study in the medical field, including a certificate of vaccination against Hepatitis - forms here
5. Evidence of participation in the SOT, certificate in AJ, or diplomas for sports or cultural activity

Conditions for international students

The conditions of admission of foreigners, foreign students or students who have completed university studies abroad are the same as the conditions of admission of students who have completed university studies in the Slovak Republic and are citizens of the Slovak Republic.

Proof of equivalence of education shall be provided by the applicant at the latest on the day of the entrance examination.

Form of entrance exam

The admission procedure consists of a written test on the principles of laboratory methods in healthcare and the fundamentals of the core subjects of laboratory medicine (histology, haematology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology and genetics). The admission procedure also takes into account non-specific assessments: participation in the SVOČ, in projects, in competitions.
Methodology of the admission procedure assessment:
1. Passing a test from which a maximum of 120 points can be obtained
2. 2 points for each non-specific activity.

b) Certificate in a foreign language
c) Other activity
d) Other activity

Only candidates who satisfy point 6 in the Admission Requirements section may take the written test on the principles of laboratory methods in health care.
