Crisis management

The graduates are prepared to work in management functions of state and local government in the field of crisis management. They are able to detect risks and threats, analyse and propose procedures for their reduction. They have knowledge of the theory of crisis management with emphasis on designing and implementing preventive measures, preparing an adequate response to an emerging crisis and implementing the restoration of systems after the elimination of crisis factors.



Prospects of graduates

The study is focused on the preparation of specialists that can find their application in public administration, in companies and firms in the analysis of risks and possible crisis situations, their monitoring, in the preparation of basic materials for crisis planning, in elaboration of crisis plans and in crisis management. The graduates have education in the respective economic, technical and social sciences and in their applications, including organisation and management in public administration, administrative law and crisis management in public administration. They can find their application in managerial and other organisational positions in the sections of civil safety (state defense, civil protection of inhabitants, protection of public order, environment protection, organisation of economic measures for the solution of crisis situations, and others).

Conditions of admission

a Bachelor study graduate of the same or related branch may file for the study

the applicants will be accepted according to the capacity possibilities and evaluation of the applicants where the main criterion shall be the study results in Bachelor study

the applicants from related study programmes shall take written tests from the Bachelor state exam subjects according to the selected study programme



Conditions for international students

Foreign applicants are admitted under the respective inter-governmental agreements or at own expenses. The applicants from EU countries are admitted and study under the same conditions as the students  from the Slovak Republic. The applicants from the Czech Republic may use for submitting the study application form  the valid in the Czech Republic. In case of applicants with no active command of Slovak or Czech language successful attendance of language preparation at The University of Žilina is required.



Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

1. No entrance exam

- Graduates of Bachelor's studies in the same study programme who have achieved an overall weighted grade average of 2.5 or less in the Bachelor's study programme and who have also successfully passed the state examination in the first term will be admitted to study engineering study programmes without a selection procedure.

2. Selection procedure

- All other applicants who do not meet the admission criteria without a selection procedure will be included in the selection procedure (with a written test).

the fee for admission procedure must be paid to the following address: The University of Žilina, Univerzitná 1, 010 26 Žilina, account number: 7000269933/8180, variable symbol:  1093, constant symbol: 0308

written and oral command of Slovak (Czech) language, basic knowledge of one world language (English, German, French)

in case of payment from the Czech Republic use SWIFT: NBSBSKBX

in case of payment from other foreign country IBAN: SK9307200000000000123852

the original payment document and the CV must be sent to the address of the faculty (Ul. 1.Mája 32, 010 26  Žilina) together with the application form

if the applicant would like to participate in admission procedure at more faculties of The University of Žilina, an application must be filed separately to each faculty with payment of the respective fee

in case of interest in both study forms (full-time and part-time) it is necessary to file two applications including two fees for the admission procedure

the tuition is according to the act on universities

the use of electric application does not replace the written application on the prescribed form
