Catholic Theology
A graduate of Catholic theology is competent to work pastorally in parishes or Christian centres or institutions. A graduate of Catholic theology, if ordained a priest, is competent to celebrate the sacraments, to celebrate the sacred liturgy and to carry out other activities in the field of preaching and catechesis. He or she can keep parish records, provide basic pastoral counseling, provide preparation for reception of the sacraments, and lead the religious life of the parish.
The program of study is not oriented toward the teaching profession.
Prospects of graduates
The graduate of Catholic Theology is able to obtain the necessary information from adequate sources and to understand the basic theological disciplines. The student is able to use domestic and foreign language literature independently and to evaluate it critically. A graduate in Catholic theology is competent to work pastorally in parishes or Christian centres or institutions. He or she is competent to work in the social and charitable spheres, to assess social phenomena from the perspective of Catholic social doctrine, and to apply the methods of social communication and ethics to other social spheres. The graduate acquires the ability to orientate himself in the latest results of scientific research in the above-mentioned fields of science and is able to use modern technical means for pastoral practice. The graduate is able to further develop his/her knowledge and to critically assimilate new facts in order to use them within the framework of his/her field of specialization. The composition of the subjects studied enables the graduate of Catholic Theology to reach the level of similar study programmes implemented elsewhere in the world, and therefore he/she is prepared to work in his/her field in other countries. The graduate can also work in similar social science disciplines, which allow him/her to work in different social groups (drug addicts, Roma communities, etc.). - completion of upper-secondary education or upper-secondary vocational education,
- commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and faculty,
- application submitted by the deadline with the required attachments,
- successful completion of the entrance examination
Additional information
- only one study programme can be applied for on one application form,
- the final ranking of applicants is determined by the results of the entrance examination.

The entrance examinations for the Catholic Theology programme are written and oral and are taken by all students. Knowledge and skills in general education subjects within the scope of the grammar school curriculum are required.
Criteria for admission to the Catholic Theology study programme:
- high school grades: max. 20 points
- written test: max. 80 points
- written thesis: max. 20 points
- oral interview: max. 20 points
