The aim of the study programme is to provide a complete university education of the 3rd(PhD) degree. The graduate of the study branch of Forest Management has to master the scientific methods of research, development and practical implementing the principles of providing sustainable use of forest ecosystems while applying all forest functions (ecological, environmental, and of production).

Career prospects
The graduates of the study programme find a job in the scientific research oriented to solving economic-managerial problems of forest management, ecological and economic using forests as a basic part of landscape and the environment. It is also possible to count with these graduates in international teams solving conceptionally ecological projects, the projects of afforestation and the projects of the using of wood.

Terms and conditions of admission
The prerequisite is the completed university study of the 2nddegree in the given or related branches.
The entrance examinations consist of the following two parts:
-
written language test (the applicant states the language in the application for PhD study),
-
official examining board oral exam.
In the oral exam, the applicant is expected to show theoretical knowledge of the given subjects and of the subject of his specialization according to the selected topic. Within the entrance examination, also other applicant´s activities such as the ŠVOČ (student scientific activity), publication activity, etc. are taken into consideration.

General information on entrance examinations
The applicant enrols for the topics within proper study programmes given by the departments. The application form for PhD study is called "Prihláška na vysokoškolské štúdium, doktorandské - tretí stupeň" and it should be submitted not later than on 31stMay to the Dean´s office of the Faculty of Forestry in Zvolen, T.G. Masaryka 24, 960 53 Zvolen. The application shall be enclosed with: the attested diploma photocopy, the diploma supplement and state examination certificates (besides the graduates of the LF TU in Zvolen). Graduates of other faculties of the TU shall add photocopies of certificates concerning the completing the 2nddegree of their university study. Moreover, also the CV, a list of the published specialist and scientific works, the prove of administrative fee payment for the entrance examinations are to be enclosed. It is also necessary to submit a framework project on the dissertation work topic.
