Advanced Materials

Prospects of graduates

The study programme creates a physics and chemistry background for obtaining the highest degree of higher education for graduates of master's and engineering studies in disciplines such as: interdisciplinary studies combined with physics or chemistry, teaching studies combined with physics, engineering studies in materials and its related fields. The graduate profile is built on the principles of both building and developing a physical understanding of the macroscopic manifestations of the properties of modern materials. The graduate has an up-to-date overview of the properties, manufacturing processes, applications and research of modern advanced materials. It is shown that the production and successful applications of materials with disordered, quasi-disordered structures, including nanomaterials, require a specialised approach in the education of future professionals with a strong emphasis on physical and chemical education based on the basic attributes of the discipline of physics. Graduates of the study programme are proficient in methodologies for the preparation and characterisation of modern materials, such as various methods for the preparation of rapidly cooled alloys, synthesis of nanomaterials, spectroscopic and microscopic methods for the study of structure, basic magnetic, electrical, voltage, magnetic characteristics of materials, etc. The student can independently and creatively use existing experimental procedures for practical applications, as well as design new procedures for innovative technologies. He/she knows the basics of computer technology as well as the basics of information and communication technologies such as working with the Internet, information systems and databases at a level appropriate for a graduate of the highest university degree. He or she will be a qualified scientist and can be employed in production practice, in scientific teams in university, academic and other educational and research establishments, and in senior positions in science management.
