Prospects of graduates

The faculty trains specialists for the field of pre-school education, for the first stage of primary school (teaching for primary education) and teachers of academic, artistic-educational and educational subjects in primary schools, primary art schools and secondary schools. As one of the few faculties in the Slovak Republic, it creates an educational base for the entire field of special education, which allows to provide training of teachers and educators for all types of special schools and institutions for children and youth with special educational needs. In addition, the faculty trains specialists in foreign languages and cultures. In the field of speech therapy, graduates are qualified to practise as speech therapists in the health, education and labour and social affairs departments as well as in non-state institutions. In the field of therapeutic pedagogy, the faculty prepares specialists to carry out therapeutic pedagogical professional activities in the education, health and social affairs departments. Graduates of social pedagogy studies acquire professional competence as social pedagogues, foster carers, educators and as state and local government workers in the field of child and youth care. The Department of Social Work educates social workers for various fields of social work.

Accommodation options The basic criteria for providing accommodation in student homes are study results, time availability of the place of permanent residence from Bratislava, social situation of the student. Students with disabilities are given preference.

Applicants admitted to study in the regular term (June 2024) are automatically allocated a place in the dormitory.



Conditions for international students

The criteria and dates of the entrance examinations at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University for foreigners are the same as for citizens of the Slovak Republic. At the same time, foreign applicants* who acquire secondary education at a foreign secondary school are obliged to submit an officially certified translation of their matriculation certificate and proof of equivalence of education issued by the relevant District Office - Department of Education. If the foreign applicant** does not pass the Slovak language exam as part of the matriculation examination, he/she is obliged to prove his/her knowledge of the Slovak language at least at the B2 level according to the SERR in the form of a standardised certificate/state examination. Only officially certified copies of documents are accepted.

*Documents from recognised Czech schools issued in the Czech Republic are equivalent in the Slovak Republic without recognition for the purposes of academic recognition.

In accordance with the directive of the Rector of Charles University, Internal Regulation No. 23/2014, applicants with disabilities are advised to contact the coordinators for work with disabled students in advance (or send a request for the creation of conditions for the entrance examination together with the application form), which will allow sufficient space for their preparation.

General information on the admission exam

The admission procedure for a candidate begins with the submission of his/her electronically completed application form to the Faculty of Education. A candidate may apply for a combined 1st and 2nd level of study for one study programme - speech therapy.

A candidate may also submit another application for the 1st cycle of studies for a maximum of two Bachelor's degree programmes. study programmes. The applicant is required to pay a separate fee for each application submitted.

An application for undergraduate studies shall be made exclusively electronically via the academic information system AIS2 no later than 31 March 2024. The application form and detailed description can be found on the website www.fedu.uniba.sk. A proof of payment of the admission fee by 31 March 2024 is a mandatory attachment to the application form. Do not send the application form by post.

Form of entrance exam

The entrance examination will consist of:

talent test (Date: May 13-17, 2024)

focused on communicative competence (level of articulation, fluency of speech, quality of voice, motor skills of articulatory organs, fluency in expression). Basic prerequisites for practicing as a speech therapist will be assessed by a committee of experts in each field.

Written Examination (Date: 10-14 June 2024)

  • of biology within the scope of the high school curriculum, focusing primarily on human biology
  • general awareness test
  • tests of language sense (dictation, word and sentence analysis, sentence completion, verbal test)
  • translation from English or German

Note: Applicants for the Speech Therapy programme will be invited to sit for the written entrance examination on the regular date from 10-14 June 2024 only on the basis of successful completion of the talent entrance examinations.

The faculty also takes into account the average of marks in the matriculation examination. It ascertains the applicant's general readiness to cope with the requirements of higher education and takes all graded subjects of the matriculation examination equally into account in the scoring. The weight of the entrance examination shall be a minimum of ¾ of the total result of the admission procedure.

Applicants shall deliver an officially certified copy of the matriculation certificate to the Study Department of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University immediately after passing the matriculation examination, no later than 14 June 2024. The date of delivery of the document is decisive, not the date of submission at the post office.

Fee for admission procedure, the applicant shall pay by bank transfer on the basis of the payment order which is part of the online application form and generated by the applicant in AiS. The applicant is obliged to provide all the required data (including the specific symbol) and enter his/her name and surname in the message to the recipient; a copy of the proof of payment (bank confirmation of the transfer) is a mandatory attachment to the application form. Without the payment being credited to the faculty's account by 31 March 2024 at the latest, the application will not be registered.
