Evangelical Lutheran Theology Focusing on Management of Social Assistance

Prospects of graduates

Thanks to the acquired knowledge, skills and competences, the graduate after graduation can apply as a worker in the field of social assistance services management at various levels in the environment of diakonia, charity, in state, private and non-profit sector institutions, in state and local government bodies.

In the field of the Church, it is envisaged that he will be employed primarily in the field of diakonia and Christian charity. Thus prepared, intrinsically motivated for ministry, the graduate should be able to manage, develop, seek and find new opportunities for ministry in the local context. After analyzing the social situation of the micro-region, he/she should be able to organize and build a diaconal program or social service organization. He/she is ready to lead and coordinate a team of workers in the field of social (or diaconal) outreach service. The graduate can similarly apply himself/herself in the context of other social service providers (private, state).

Additional information

The programme of "Evangelical Lutheran Theology" focusing on management of social assistance" at the EBF UK builds on the Bachelor degree of "Social service" at the EBF UK, where there has been a collaboration of experts in the field of special education and psychology, social work, nursing assistants with the theological collaborators of the Faculty. The proposed second Master level of studies is prepared through the cooperation with employees working at the Faculty of Management of the Comenius University. Thus there is the expertise for organisation and management of social welfare services across the board range as defined by the Act on Social Assistance of the Slovak Republic (195/1998). The programme logically completes the second level of university education on the Evangelical Faculty of Theology in the area of charitable aid for the needs of the Slovak society. In the second level, the experience of professional education in the European and global context is utilised as well. The programme was designed in consultations with experts from the USA and Germany, and the programme uses directly the experts from the European organization of the Society for the Intercultural Pastoral Care and Counseling based in Düsseldorf. The applicants may become graduates of the Bachelor level programme of "Evangelical Lutheran Theology Focusing on Management of Social Assistance" (former name: Evangelical Social Diaconia) at the EBF UK, or graduates of other Bachelor level of education, or other university education working or intending to work in the field of organising social assistance.
