Electronics and Photonics
Graduates of the Bachelor's degree and graduates with other completed higher education may be admitted to the Engineering Study of Electronics and Photonics. The professional competence of applicants for engineering studies is assessed on the basis of the content and results of the applicant's previous studies, supported by appropriate documents, and on the basis of the results of the entrance examination if this cannot be done on the basis of the documents submitted on the applicant's previous studies. The recommended study plan is designed so that by completing it the student meets the conditions for successful completion of studies within the standard length of study corresponding to the study programme. Graduates of this study programme build their ability to solve problems systematically through individual courses, as its basic characteristic is a systemic approach and interdisciplinarity. This enables graduates of the Electronics and Photonics study programme to gain a significant competitive advantage and thus a wide range of employment not only in the field of Electronics but also in other fields.
Prospects of graduates
In the engineering study programme Electronics and Photonics, graduates will deepen their theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge of electronic systems for the generation, processing, transmission and storage of information and control signals in various applications. Graduates of the Microelectronics and Photonics specialisation will be able to design, analyse, diagnose and operate various electronic systems based on modern micro- and nano-electronic technologies. Attention in this specialization orientation is given to the development and integration of optoelectronics, photonics and sensors with digital signal processing methods. A graduate of the Electronic Systems specialization has a deep knowledge of modern analog and digital methods for the processing and transmission of audio and video signals, including biomedical signals. Intensive involvement of students in solving partial problems of research tasks within individual forms of education allows graduates to gain experience in teamwork, design and evaluation of experiments, as well as presentation and communication of the obtained results.
