Annotation
The compulsory and compulsorily optional subjects within the study programme of Forest Ecology correspond to the content of the branch of study of Forestry for the 2nd degree in all aspects. The subjects follow the knowledge obtained in the programmes of the Bachelor´s degree at the Faculty of Forestry, they include deepening knowledge of special forestry disciplines and they complete a spectrum of knowledge in the subjects focused on the complex knowing of phenomena and processes in forest ecosystems and their use for sustainable forest management with a special focus on their non-production functions.

Career prospects
After successful completion of the study the graduates are ready to solve current problems and challenges connected with forest management, landscape use and nature protection. The graduate of the branch of study of Forest Ecology finds a post in forestry practice, in a whole series of the industry organisations, but also in other connected branches of agriculture, the environment, and nature protection. The graduates are suitable for the sphere of forest management in large-surface protected areas, in European significant areas Natura 2000, and in the management of European significant types of biotopes. Due to a wide range of subjects they succeed in a position of an executive expert in the field as well as in a position of a company manager. On-going language preparation in world languages and specialized knowledge guaranteed by the top internationally recognized scientists enable the graduates to find a job in the same spectrum of study branches abroad and/or continue in their PhD study and successfully assert themselves within the internationalized science and research

Terms and conditions of admission
A basic condition for admission to the Master´s study in the study programme of Forest Ecology is graduating from and completion of the study programme at the 1st(Bachelor´s) degree, or achieving a BSc. degree in the study programme of Forestry or in a related study programme and reaching the set average of study results. If a student has not completed the study programme of Forestry within the Bachelor´s study, he has to take the entrance examination which rests on checking up applicant´s knowledge at a level of the state examination of the Bachelor´s study of the study programme of Forestry.

General information on entrance examinations
If a student applies for more MSc study programmes, he has to submit the application for each study programme separately. After receiving the documents concerning the completing of the Bachelor´s study, applicants from other universities and faculties (apart from the Faculty of Forestry at the Technical University in Zvolen) will immediately send an attested copy of the Bachelor´s diploma, a diploma supplement and the certificate of the state examination. The record of Bachelor´s study results with the weighted study average issued by the Department of Studies at a faculty (university) in question are also needed. The graduates of other faculties of the Technical University in Zvolen enclose non-attested photocopies of documents proving the completion of their university study.
The faculty will send the information on the entrance examinations (day, hour, room) at the latest one month before the date of entrance examinations. It is necessary to stick a copy of the prove of payment for the entrance examinations on each application. The application with no prove of payment for the entrance examinations will not be accepted. Similarly, the international students have to take the entrance examinations as Slovak students.
