Graduate Profile

The graduate of the study programme "Timber and Wood Structures" will gain deeper knowledge in the field of structure and properties of wood and wood composite materials, or wood processing technologies, which are necessary for application on wooden structures, as well as about the interactions of wood and wood materials with other substances, various forms of energy, about technologies and laws of their production processes. It will also acquire knowledge in the interdisciplinary fields of safety, ecology and environmental science, as well as computer modelling and computer-aided design.



Prospects of graduates

The graduates of the study programme "Timber and Wood Structures" have knowledge of technologies and methods of control of technological processes and product constructions, on the basis of which they can solve technological and technical problems in wood processing processes, they have up-to-date knowledge in the development, construction and implementation of wooden buildings in sustainable construction. They are proficient in related commercial and consultancy activities, as well as in standard methods for determining the properties and quality of wood and wood-based products. They are able to approach unconventional solutions with a high degree of independence. They are familiar with the laws of woodworking processes, can be involved in the development of progressive technologies, and are prepared to manage, improve and develop new design solutions at a higher level. The SP is based on a multidisciplinary foundation of natural, technical, economic and social science disciplines. They will therefore find employment in woodworking, construction and other related fields in the independent solution of more complex design and technological tasks, in design and technological projects as sought-after experts with a specific focus. They will also be employed by primary wood processors, in plants and plants for complex processing of wood raw material in the management of technological processes and production operations aimed at complex processing and recovery of wood as a renewable natural domestic raw material, in the field of design and construction of products as a driving force of technical innovation and development at the level of small and medium-sized enterprises. They can be employed in the field of production preparation and supply, but also as specialists in the wood products trade. The range of applications also extends to quality control and testing. In view of the focus of the vocational subjects, there is also the possibility of independent entrepreneurial activity in the construction and furniture industry.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Admission of applicants to the engineering study programme "Timber and Wood Structures" of the study field Woodworking will take place in the form of a selective admission procedure without the participation of applicants. The level and character of the completed bachelor's study shall be assessed on the basis of the evaluation of the weighted study average of the entire bachelor's study and the overall result of the state examination. Graduates of a study programme of a related field shall be required to take selected courses from the core of the Woodworking discipline from the first cycle of study without credit.

The study programme of the related field of study shall be validated by the following requirements.

General information on the admission exam

Admission of applicants to the studies of the second degree is carried out in the form of a selective admission procedure without the participation of the applicant (except Furniture and Interior Design), on the basis of the evaluation of their study results of the bachelor's studies at the Faculty of Woodworking or at another faculty of a related study programme.

Officially certified copy of the first degree diploma, state examination certificate and diploma supplement (a statement of the results of the bachelor's degree examinations with the weighted study average for the bachelor's degree) - submit or send the following documents. deliver to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Woodworking immediately after obtaining them - mandatory attachment,

Electronic application form for studies should be filled in, printed directly from the system, signed and sent to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Woodworking within the deadline for submission of applications for studies.

For each study programme it is necessary to submit an application form separately,

  • the condition of admission to study in the study programme Wooden Structures of the study field Woodworking is the completion of the first degree study programme in the field Woodworking or in related fields,

  • information about registered applications of applicants will be published on the website of the Technical University, in the university system UIS in the section results of entrance examinations after entering the applicant's birth number: http://is.tuzvo.sk/prijimacky/verejne_vysledky.pl,
  • the number of admitted students is planned for each study programme separately,

  • the order of students admitted to the study programmes will be determined on the basis of the results achieved and the nature of the first I degree studies completed, and for the Furniture Design study programme also on the basis of the portfolio evaluation,

  • the results of the entrance examination and admission selection procedures will be published on the website after their evaluation at http://is.tuzvo.sk/prijimacky/verejne_vysledky.pl or on the faculty's website https://df.tuzvo.sk/sk/vysledky-prijimacieho-konania.
