Prospects of graduates
The graduate of the Master's degree in Media and Cultural Heritage is prepared for the media, cultural and creative industries sector. It understands the content and objectives of media and marketing communications, including in the modern digital space. He or she has an in-depth knowledge of the principles of managing professional activities in media, cultural and heritage information institutions, including in the context of their future digital transformation. Depending on the chosen specialization, the graduate can find employment in collection institutions, in the media sphere, or as a graphic designer or web designer.

Basic admission requirement
The basic condition for admission to the Master's degree (second degree study programme) is the acquisition of a first-degree university degree (Act on Higher Education No.131/2002 Coll., as amended) in the same or a related field of study. In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his/her studies abroad, he/she shall submit with his/her application for the second cycle of higher education, no later than at the time of enrolment, a decision on the recognition of the document on the completion of the first cycle of higher education by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic.
Other admission conditions
The condition of admission to the 2nd level of higher education (Mgr.) is the completion of the 1st level of studies in the same field of study or in a study programme related in content to the study programme Media Studies and Cultural Heritage. Applicants - graduates of bachelor studies of the study programme Media Studies and Cultural Heritage in the field of study Media and Communication Studies implemented at the Faculty of Arts of UNIZA or the Faculty of Arts of UNIZA will be admitted without entrance examinations. Graduates from other universities of the same field of study or a study programme related in content to the study programme in Media Studies and Cultural Heritage: the applicant will choose three books or articles from a proposed list of literature (the list will be published by the Department of Media Studies and Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Humanities of UNIZA on the website) and will undergo an oral interview. The Department of Mediamatics and Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Humanities of UNIZA is responsible for the implementation of the entrance examination. The fulfilment of the conditions for admission to the study is evaluated by the Admissions Committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty.
Written and oral proficiency in Slovak or Czech language is required for studying at the faculty.

Conditions for international students
For foreign applicants, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students studying in Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the form valid in the Czech Republic to apply for studies. For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral treaties or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.
In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his/her studies abroad, he/she shall submit with his/her application for university studies, no later than at the time of enrolment for studies, a decision on the recognition of the document on the completion of higher education of the first degree by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic. The foreign applicant shall submit a certificate of the required B1 language level, according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages, in the Slovak language. If he/she does not have such a certificate, he/she shall take a test on the date of the admission examination to determine the above-mentioned required level of the Slovak language. The test will be prepared, implemented and evaluated by the Institute of Lifelong Learning of the University of Žilina in Žilina.
Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
The condition for admission to the 2nd level of university studies (Mgr.) is the completion of the 1st level of studies in the same field of study or in a study programme related in content to the study programme Media Studies and Cultural Heritage. Applicants - graduates of the Bachelor's degree of the study programme Media Studies and Cultural Heritage in the field of study Media and Communication Studies implemented at the Faculty of Arts of UNIZA or the Faculty of Arts of UNIZA will be admitted without entrance examinations.

Method of payment: payment can be made by bank transfer or postal order to the above account. The name of the applicant/payer should be mentioned when making the payment.
Proof of payment: Proof of payment should be sent to the faculty address along with the application form
Study Fees - as per the University Act. Information about the tuition fee for the respective academic year will be published by the University of Žilina in Žilina on its website within the set deadlines.
When paying the fee from EU member states, contracting countries of the EEA, territories that are considered to be part of the EU (Art. 299 Treaty of Rome) and countries that have voluntarily joined SEPA, use BIC: SPSRSKBAXXX, IBAN: SK52 8180 0000 0070 0026 9925.
In case of interest in more than one study programme, it is necessary to apply for each study programme separately with payment of the respective fee.
Applicants should complete the Application for Undergraduate Studies - 2nd Degree form or use the electronic form. The electronic application form can be filled in via the UNIZA website https://vzdelavanie.uniza.sk/prijimacky/index.php or the HEI portal https://prihlaskavs.sk/sk/. In the case of electronic application, it is necessary to follow the instructions given in the Electronic Application System.
If the application form is incomplete, the applicant will be asked to complete it.
In case of non-participation or failure in the admission procedure, the faculty will not refund the admission fee. If a candidate wishes to participate in the admission procedure at several faculties or programmes of the faculty of UNIZA, the application must be submitted separately for each faculty and programme with payment of the respective fee.
