Design of Furniture and Interior
Master's study programme Furniture and Interior Design extends and deepens the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired by studying this study programme at the bachelor's level of higher education. It develops the graduate's ability to creatively solve tasks in actual conditions and in contexts beyond the field of study. The graduate is able to creatively use knowledge and apply scientific and artistic concepts in teamwork and as an independent creative designer. He/she acquires knowledge in the field of design work, which enables him/her to manage creative teams of workers and to take responsibility for complex project solutions. Has the ability to integrate knowledge, manage complexity and formulate professionally and ethically responsible solutions. Is capable of conceptual and coordinating activities and international confrontation. Can clearly and unambiguously communicate the results of creative performance to professional and lay audiences. After completing additional pedagogical studies, he/she can act as a teacher of professional subjects in primary, secondary or higher education.
Graduates of the Master's degree programme in Furniture and Interior Design are able to:
- independently create and design design products and works of art for a wide range of economic, cultural and social life
- use advanced technologies and a variety of materials appropriate to their programme of study
- keep in touch with developments and advance knowledge in their discipline
- to organise one's continuing professional development
- apply organisational and management skills in teamwork
Prospects of graduates
The graduates of the study programme "Design of Furniture and Interior" are versatile creative professionals who integrate practical as well as theoretical knowledge, experience and skills in the field of design and technical creation in their professional profile. Their work contributes to the better satisfaction of the utilitarian and aesthetic needs of man, to the humanization and creation of the environment. The study is aimed at further development of artistic talent and knowledge in furniture and interior design, moulding, visual arts, furniture construction, furniture manufacturing technology, ergonomics, ecology, computer aided and communication design. Graduates can enter practice as professionals in furniture design practice. Graduates of the Master's degree are independently able to respond professionally to the requirements of practice in the field of product design in the furniture industry, the creation of corporate identity and are able to design their own product solutions in accordance with the requirements of the consumer and the manufacturer. Graduates will find employment as independent furniture and interior designers and can work in design and construction studios, offices, etc. They are also able to lead design teams.

Admission of applicants for Mgr. Art. study programme Design of Furniture and Interior will take place in the form of a selective admission procedure with the participation of the applicant. (candidates will participate in the selection admission procedure on the basis of a written invitation).
The level and nature of the studies undertaken will be assessed on the basis of the materials submitted or received by the Assessment Board as follows:
a) an evaluation of the undergraduate grade point average and the marks of the national examinations (max. 60 b),
b) evaluation of the candidate's portfolio and interview (max. 40 b)
Total max 100 points
Conditions for international students
Foreign students apply and are admitted to study under the same conditions as applicants from the Slovak Republic.

The electronic application form for the study must be filled in, printed directly from the system, signed and sent to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Woodworking by the deadline for submitting applications for the study.
Applicants who completed their Bachelor's degree last year or earlier should send the following with their application:
- officially certified copy of the first degree diploma, an officially certified copy of the state examination certificate and an officially certified copy of the diploma supplement (a statement of the results of the bachelor's degree examinations with the weighted average for the bachelor's degree),
- portfolio

Selective admission procedure with personal participation of the applicant (applicants will participate in the selective admission procedure on the basis of a written invitation).
