A graduate is prepared for independent creative activity in the field of design, furniture design, furnishing of the living environment, home culture and other and related fields. He/she will apply himself/herself in design practice, education and artistic creation. May work in research and teaching institutions, carry out conceptual research work in design and in architectural and design studios, in the publishing of artistic, theoretical and professional periodicals. Fully capable of carrying out independent conceptual and management work in the field of design, conservation and culture in general.
The graduates of the study programme "Furniture and Housing Design" - 3rd degree are able to:
- continue their artistic research work in the field of Design as leaders of research teams, especially in universities, art schools, cultural institutions, various research departments and development departments of companies,
- participate in the creation of challenging design proposals for industrial products, advertising and visual communication products and multimedia design solutions
- to work in the top management of various companies, cultural and artistic institutions, to work independently on complex projects in the field of creation of their cultural and economic policy, where the tools of design can be applied.

The prerequisite is the completion of a second cycle university degree in specified or related fields.
In the evaluation of the applicant, account is taken of his/her academic results in previous studies, possible publication activity and participation in student scientific and professional conferences (SSCs).
Admission interviews consist of two parts: - a written language test (the language to be specified by the applicant in his/her application for doctoral studies) - an oral interview before the committee.

Foreign students apply and are admitted to study under the same conditions as applicants from the Slovak Republic.

Applicants must apply for the topics specified by the departments in the respective study programmes.The deadline for submitting the application is no later than 31.5.2022 at the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Wood Technology, TU Zvolen, T.G.Masaryka 24, 960 01 Zvolen or in person at the Department of Scientific Research and Doctoral Studies of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Wood Technology, No. door A003. Notarised copy of the diploma - Notarised copy of the state examination certificate - Notarised copy of the supplement to the diploma or the transcript of examinations during the studies confirmed by the study department - Curriculum Vitae - Proof of payment of the handling fee - Outline project on the topic of the dissertation. The applicant is not required to have a medical certificate of fitness for university studies.
Form of entrance exam
In-person interview - in the interview the candidate demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the prescribed subjects and the subject of specialization - according to the chosen topic. The questionnaires for each subject will be sent to the applicants after the closing date for applications together with the invitation to the interviews.
