The graduate of the second degree in the study programme Security Management is able to analyse the security situation in the field of protection of persons and property with the use of research. He/she is able to analyse the security environment, perform risk and security analyses and design security systems, propose and adopt appropriate solutions for the protection of persons and property even in emergency situations. The graduate acquires knowledge of the theory and practice of the protection of persons and property, enabling him/her to manage teams of personnel in this field, to lead security actions independently and to take responsibility for the correctness of their solution.
Prospects of graduates
The study is aimed at university training of experts providing security protection services for tangible or intangible property of citizens, natural persons, legal entities, municipalities and the state against security risks as well as capable of designing and operating integrated systems of electronic protection of objects. The graduate will acquire knowledge in relevant technical, economic and social sciences and the ability to apply them to the conditions of security management.

The basic condition for admission to engineering studies (second-degree study programme) is the acquisition of a first-degree university degree (Higher Education Act No.131/2002 Coll., as amended) in the same or a related field of study. In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his/her studies abroad, he/she shall submit with his/her application for university studies, no later than at the time of enrolment, a decision on the recognition of the document on the completion of the first degree by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic, or shall apply to UNIZA for the recognition of the document on the education.
Rules of the selection procedure
A graduate of bachelor's degree may apply for the study.
Admission will be based on the capacity of each study programme and the evaluation of applicants, in which the main criterion will be the results of the bachelor's studies.
Applicants who have completed the first cycle of undergraduate studies at another university or faculty may be admitted only on the basis of the results of a written test in the profile subjects of their chosen study programme. The theses of the profile subjects are published on the faculty's website.
The final decision on the outcome of the admission procedure will be determined by the Dean of FBI UNIZA on the basis of the proposal of the Faculty Admissions Committee.
Conditions for international students
For foreign applicants, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic.
Foreign students studying in a language other than the state language pay tuition fees according to the conditions set out in Section 92(8) of the Higher Education Act. The tuition fee is set by a UNIZA directive and published for the relevant academic year on the university's website.
Foreign students studying in Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the form valid in the Czech Republic to apply for studies. Applicants who do not have an active knowledge of Slovak or Czech are required to successfully complete language training (with the possibility of completing it at UNIZA).
For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral agreements or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.
Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
1. No entrance exam
- graduates of bachelor studies in the same study programme who have achieved an overall weighted grade average of 2.5 or less in the bachelor study programme and who have also successfully passed the state examination in the first term will be admitted to study engineering study programmes without a selection procedure.
2. Selection procedure
- All other applicants who do not meet the admission criteria without a selection procedure will be included in the selection procedure (with a written test).

Applications are invited for study programmes.
Applicants fill in the Application for Undergraduate Studies - 2nd Degree form or use the electronic form. The electronic application form can be filled out through the UNIZA website https://vzdelavanie.uniza.sk/prijimacky/index.php or the University portal https://prihlaskavs.sk/sk/.
Even in the case of electronic application, it is necessary to print the application form, sign it, attach the required attachments and proof of payment of the fee and send it by post to the address FBI UNIZA, Ul. 1. may 32, 010 26 Žilina by the specified deadlines. Incomplete applications for studies or applications for studies sent after the set deadlines will not be accepted.
In case of non-participation or failure in the admission procedure, the faculty will not refund the handling fee for the admission procedure.
If a candidate wishes to participate in the admission procedure at several faculties of UNIZA, the application must be submitted separately for each faculty with payment of the appropriate fee.

Proof of Payment: Proof of payment should be sent to the faculty address along with the application form
Student Fees- as per the University Act. Information about the tuition fee for the respective academic year will be published by the University of Žilina in Žilina on its website within the set deadlines.
When paying the fee from EU member states, EEA contracting states, territories considered to be part of the EU (Article 299 of the Treaty of Rome) and countries that have voluntarily joined SEPA, it is necessary to use BIC: SPSRSKBAXXX, IBAN: SK30 8180 0000 0070 0026 9933.
Medical fitness- the faculty does not require a medical certificate of medical fitness for higher education and accepts applications without a medical certificate for all levels of higher education.
When the number of applicants for study is less than 10, the faculty reserves the right not to open the study programme.
