Automated Manufacturing Systems

The graduate of the third degree of higher education of the study programme will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for research and development of automation of mechanical engineering production. He/she will acquire theoretical knowledge of technological processes and the possibilities of their application in mechanical engineering enterprises, taking into account qualitative, technical-economic and ecological aspects. It is prepared to solve the most demanding tasks of technical practice. Graduates of doctoral studies can find employment in research and development departments of manufacturing enterprises, top managerial positions, management of production departments with sophisticated production technology, institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, technical universities. It can also be applied in consulting firms and organizations where higher level technical education is required. The graduate is capable of independent scientific work, is ready to creatively develop and deepen knowledge in the field.



Prospects of graduates

The graduate from doctorate study programme gains knowledge and skills necessary for research and development of machine industry manufacturing automation. They will acquire theoretical knowledge from technological processes and the possibilities of their applications in machinery companies, with taking into consideration of the qualitative, technical-economic and ecologic aspects. They are prepared for solution of the most demanding tasks of technical practice. The graduate from doctorate study has their application in research and development departments of manufacturing companies, top managerial positions, management of manufacturing departments with sophisticated manufacturing technology, institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, at technical universities. They can also find their application in consulting companies and organizations where technical education of higher level is required. The graduate is capable of independent scientific work, is prepared to creatively develop and extend the knowledge in the given field.

Conditions of admission

Basic condition of admission
The basic condition of admission to doctoral studies (third degree study programme) is the acquisition of a university degree of the second degree (Act on Higher Education No.131/2002 Coll., as amended). In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his/her studies abroad, he/she shall submit with his/her application for university studies, no later than at the time of enrolment, a decision on the recognition of the document on the completion of the second degree by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic, or shall apply to UNIZA for the recognition of the document on the education.


Other conditions of admission


1. No entrance examination
All applicants for studies go through a selection procedure.


2. Selection procedure
The selection procedure for doctoral studies takes place in the form of an interview with each applicant separately before the admissions committee.


Rules of the selection procedure
The content of the interview is a part mapping the applicant's overview in the professional field related to the selected topic of doctoral studies and another part, aimed at verifying knowledge of foreign languages and prerequisites for independent scientific work. The ranking of the candidates is done by the committee in a secret ballot.



Conditions for international students

For foreign applicants, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic.
Foreign students who study in a language other than the state language pay tuition fees according to the conditions specified in Section 92 (8) of the Higher Education Act. The tuition fee is set by a UNIZA directive and published for the relevant academic year on the University's website. Foreign students studying in the Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the form valid in the Czech Republic to apply for studies. Applicants who do not have an active knowledge of Slovak or Czech are required to successfully complete language training (possibility to take it at UNIZA). For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral treaties or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.
