Acting

The Acting study programme aims to develop the student's creative disposition, not only in classical drama acting, but especially to prepare interdisciplinary actors, in modern professions, film, television, radio and dubbing acting and multimedia performances.
Baccalaureate artistic study of acting is conceived in three basic levels: psychosomatic, creative and theoretical.
The first level - deepening and development of one's own identity and creative individuality.
The second level - development of physical expression and culture of speech.
The third level - is the study of theory, the history of art, especially dramatic art.



Prospects of graduates

A graduate of the Bachelor of Acting study programme acquires the professional competence to perform the profession of an actor at the level of Bachelor of Arts.
He is technically and personally prepared for independent creative work in the areas of acting.
He has all the prerequisites to work effectively and independently but also as a member of an artistic team, to adapt to teamwork and the ability to lead a team, to keep in touch with the latest developments in his/her discipline and to continue his/her own professional development,.
The graduate can be employed as a member of artistic ensembles of professional theatres, in the media, as a worker in cultural institutions, in leading positions of amateur ensembles and drama departments of art schools and conservatories and in a wide range of artistic, educational and organizational activities.
The graduate of the Bachelor's degree can continue, after successful completion of the entrance examinations, in the Master's degree in a related or related study programme.

Conditions of admission

Acceptance of applicants for bachelor's studies is subject to successful completion of secondary school with a high school diploma and demonstration of abilities and personal disposition for the chosen study programme.
In the event that the admission interviews at FDU AU are held before the date of the applicant's graduation examination, the applicant is admitted to the study conditionally.
Conditional admission is contingent upon successful completion of the matriculation examination. The applicant must submit proof of the completion of full secondary education (matriculation certificate) within ten days of passing the matriculation examination, but at the latest by the deadline for enrolment in the study programme.
FDU AU determines additional conditions for admission to the study of individual study programmes in order to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and aptitudes are admitted to the study.
The conditions set and the method of verifying their fulfilment must enable the selection of applicants who demonstrate the highest level of talent, abilities, knowledge for study in the study programme.
The prerequisites for admission to the programme are a basic orientation and knowledge in the field of dramatic arts, a general overview of the history of domestic and world cultural events, and a knowledge of one world language at the level of a high school diploma.

The entrance examination is designed to test the applicant's level of knowledge, talent, thinking, abilities and skills in the light of the specific demands made on the applicant by the chosen Bachelor's degree programme.

The entrance examination consists of three rounds, which take place over a period of three days. The date will be adjusted annually according to the current schedule.
The practical part of the talent test is aimed at ascertaining the applicant's acting predispositions, at verifying the applicant's speech and movement skills and at demonstrating creativity.

The specific conditions of admission, the form and framework content of the admission procedure, the list of recommended readings and the method of evaluating the results of the admission examination are published at www.fdu.aku.sk.

At the request of a disabled applicant, FDU AU will determine the form of the admission examination and the manner of its conduct, taking into account his/her health problems.
Due to the application of the same evaluation criteria for all applicants for studies at FDU AU, it is not possible to determine an alternative date for the admission procedure.

An applicant to the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica applies for studies by completing the electronic application form and sending it to the faculty by the specified deadline.

The applicant: completes the electronic application form, confirms the electronic application form, prints the electronic application form, sends the signed application form with the necessary attachments by post to the faculty at the following address:

After registration and evaluation of applications, applicants will be sent further necessary information about the admission procedure for individual study programmes, which will also be published on the AU website (www.fdu.aku.sk).

An application without a proof of payment of the administrative fee will be excluded from the register.

General information on the admission exam

Each applicant must undergo a talent entrance examination. The application form must be sent for each study programme separately.
The Dean of the Faculty is responsible for the preparation, organisation, course and completion of the admission procedure.

The lists of accepted and non-accepted candidates for the study of Bachelor's study programmes will be published on the website of FDU AU within 48 hours of its completion at www.fdu.aku.sk - NEWS
