Astronomy and astrophysics
Graduates from the Master study of astronomy and astrophysics have no problem working in the field itself thanks to the wide range of opportunities in Slovakia or applying the acquired education in related fields of physical focus. In the field itself, the possibilities for work include especially basic research mainly at the Astronomy Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, staff of which includes mainly our graduates as well as in international observatories and scientific institutes. Graduates also find employment in a network of observatories and planetariums in Slovakia, at universities and educational institutions. Sufficiently broad knowledge acquired by the graduate of this field enable them to find work also in other related areas such as in the banking sector and computer centers.

(1.) Applicant may earn a maximum of 30 points at the entrance exam.
(2) The point number of applicants achieved according to the Paragraph (1) will be summed up with points achieved by study results during Bachelor's study programme according to the formula of b = 15 - 5p where b is the points acquired and p is the weighted study average calculated using the numeric value set by the Article 23 Paragraph 7 of the Study Code of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the Comenius University.
(3 )The participants of the admission procedure will be listed for individual fields based on the number of points earned. Higher sum of points will be preferred to a lower sum and the order of interest in the study programme indicated in the application form will be considered.

(1) For graduates of the Bachelor's degree at the Faculty of mathematics, physics and informatics of the Comenius University who finished the Bachelor studies in the academic year of 2009/2010 and apply to the consequent Master study programmes, the entrance exam is replaced by the state final exam of the Bachelor's study in the relevant field. For the purposes of this paragraph, Informatics (conversion programme) is a follow-up study programme of the Bachelor study programme of Applied informatics with a planned number of admitted applicants being 20.
(2) Graduates of the Bachelor studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the Comenius University who do not fulfil the condition of being admitted without an entrance exam according to the Paragraph 1, as well as graduates of the Bachelor's degree of studies on other faculties, take entrance exam in the full extent of the Bachelor's study programme, followed-up by the Master's study programme (table 2 in the addendum). The scope of knowledge is more closely defined in the syllabi of the state exam for the relevant Bachelor's study programme. The exam consists of two parts, written and oral. The dean may forgive one or both parts of the exam of the applicant based on a proposal of the guarantor of the study programme. The form of exam is announced to the applicant in the invitation to the entrance exam.
