Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the Bachelor's degree in Architecture - Bachelor of Architecture - acquires theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the field of design and architecture and is able to use them in the pursuit of a profession or when continuing in further higher education.
The graduate can apply himself:
in team project work, in exhibition and advertising, after completing additional pedagogical studies as a teacher in the art department of the Art School, can be active in cultural institutions and outreach work and in lower functions of public administration.

Conditions of admission

Additional admission interviews:

An application for additional admission interviews for the study programme may be submitted by an applicant who has not passed the admission interviews for the study programme in architectural design in the regular term.

The applicant shall complete and electronically submit the electronic application form, which is placed on the website of the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Applied Sciences no later than 24 May 2022. He/she then prints out the application form, signs it and sends it by post together with the following attachments no later than 25 May 2022 .

- professional CV

- an officially certified copy of the matriculation certificate (Foreign applicants and applicants who have studied abroad shall provide a Nostrification of document issued by the District Office - Department of Education)

- if the applicant is in his/her final year, in the printed application form he/she will have his/her school confirm the details of his/her studies (transcript of subjects and grades), in case of a bad pandemic situation (closed schools) he/she will attach a copy of the last report card (e.g. from the 3rd year)

- proof of payment of the fee

  • declaration of medical fitness signed by the applicant:

Homework Requirements - Portfolio1/2 Portfolio a broad fan of artistic skills and interests

  • E.g. still life, exteriors, bust, painting, photography, sculpture, design, printmaking .....
  • Duly indicated authorship and whether the work is done under pedagogical supervision (art course, preparatory course, high school, other ...) or independent work

1/2 portfolio specific assignments documenting an intense interest in architecture

  • Sketch drawings based on reality - interior, exterior, object
  • Analytical drawings showing thinking about structure, construction, textures, materiality, composition, formal processes and transformations
  • Designs of simple architectures, architectural objects, structures or structures. Captured in sketches, drawings, blueprints (floor plans, sections, views), spatial representations (perspective, axonometry ...), physical models (photodocumentation of both the result and the methods of construction), digital 3D models (photodocumentation of the states of modelling, visualisation, definition of parametric relationships)

Motivation letter

  • Who is the applicant and why is he/she applying to study architecture at VŠVU and what does the applicant expect from this type of school
  • Motivation letter to creatively present the applicants intense interest in architecture

Form of submission:

  • After submitting the online application form and attachments, the digital version of the homework-portfolio will be uploaded by the candidate along with the cover letter through the following website: https://ulozisko.vsvu.sk/ between 12 noon on 1 June 2022 and 8 am on 3 June 2022; access details and instructions will be sent to the email addresses provided in the application form by 12 noon on 1 June 2022. The portfolio and the cover letter must be in one common PDF format up to 10 MB marked first_last_name of the architecture study programme. It is necessary to mark the individual works - topic, title.

Specification of tasks during admission interviews:

  1. Round - Remotely without the participation of the candidate.
    - evaluation of the digital portfolio and cover letter
  2. Round - In absentia with the participation of the advancing candidate from Round 1. The second round of interviews lasts two days.

The entries may be in the nature of design of simple architectural, structural, spatial objects comprehensively treated at different levels of representation.

Or they may be in the form of multiple shorter assignments testing the candidate's abilities, skills and readiness individually

  • Spatial interpretation of text, graphics or images

Elaborated assignments are submitted physically - as drawings on drawings and as spatial models

- a test designed to establish a general overview of the high school curriculum in history, literature, art history, and an orientation to contemporary art. Upon request for applicants from abroad, it will be possible to provide the test in English, but in the case of successful admission, the applicant will continue his/her studies in Slovak.

- Interview with the applicant in front of the departmental committee, where the applicant demonstrates his/her insight in the field he/she is applying for; the interview also includes a discussion of homework

Assistance required for the entrance examination

A2 drawing board, drawing materials (pencils, charcoal, ore, etc.,), tools for making models - trimmer, scissors, glue sticks, triangle/ruler

Note: materials for graphic and spatial tasks - paper, cardboard, etc. - will be provided to candidates at the rehearsals

Conditions for international students

All foreign applicants must master Slovak language at the level B1 (except for Czech applicants) before their admission.



General information on the admission exam

A candidate for a Bachelor's degree at VŠVU can become a student of the chosen study programme only on the basis of passing the admission process. If a student has obtained a complete secondary education or a complete vocational secondary education, he/she can apply for admission to the VŠVU in the prescribed manner. As part of the admission process to the VŠVU, an entrance examination is held to test the applicant's level of knowledge, talent, thinking, abilities and skills in terms of the specific requirements arising from the chosen bachelor's degree programme.

In the event that the admission interviews to the VŠVU are held before the date of the candidate's matriculation examination, the candidate is admitted to the studies on a conditional basis. Definitive admission to the study is conditional upon successful completion of the matriculation examination. The applicant must submit proof of the completion of upper secondary education (school leaving certificate) within ten days of passing the school leaving examination, but no later than the deadline for enrolment. All foreign applicants must be proficient in the Slovak language at B1 level (except Czech applicants) by the time of enrolment.



Form of entrance exam

The entrance exam to the VŠVU is a two-round exam. The first round will take place in a distance (without the participation of applicants) manner. The second round takes place in person and lasts for two days.

Important dates of admission:

  • From 25 March 2022 to 24 May 2022 - application deadline
  • 24 May 2022 - Application fee payment deadline
  • 25.5.2022 - deadline for sending the application form and attachments by post
  • 3/6/2022 08:00 a.m. (a.m.) deadline for homework submission for the first round of admissions
  • Round 1 - 6-9 June 2022 - Admissions Committee will meet and review homework submitted by 3 June 2022 to https://ulozisko.vsvu.sk/
  • June 14, 2022 - Applicants who advance to Round 2 will receive notification of advancement to Round 2 and an invitation letter with instructions for Round 2
  • Round 2 - conducted by attendance over two days: 27-28 June 2022 - candidates work on tasks over 2 days (the full 2 days), which will be announced during the entrance examinations
