Applied Mechanics
A graduate has got a very good theoretical knowledge of mathematics, mechanics of rigid bodies, elasticity and strength, continuum mechanics and FEM, analysis and synthesis of mechanisms, machine dynamics, vibration of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, technical acoustics and theory of experiment that she or he can apply autonomously to solve problems of technical practice. The graduate has become familiar with the principles of both independent and collective scientific work, is able to formulate a problem and then apply an optimal method for solving the problem in accordance with the present state of development of the scientific field of Applied Mechanics, and can present the results of work in scientific journals and at international conferences. The graduate is able to work with modern software resources and can create new programmes to solve specific problems of mechanics using computers. The graduate can be employed as a scientific researcher in scientific institutions, universities and also as a highly qualified expert in solving problems of mechanics of machines and structures in various industries

The application form must include:
document about graduating from Engineering/Maste studies of relevant or related study field (programme),
verified copy of Engineering/Master diploma,
verified copy of the state exam certificate,
verified copy of addendum to university diploma or record of passed subjects including credit evaluation assigned,
structured CV,
document on the passed internship,
original of the receipt confirming the payment of the manipulation fee of € 30.
Part of the admission procedure are the entrance exams with the following framework content:
evaluation of the study results of the Engineering (Ing., MSc.) / Master level of studies in the relevant or related course of study (programme),
evaluation of participation of the applicant in scientific and research activity,
verification of the applicant's motivation to perform scientific work,
test in one test from one world language,
verifying the knowledge from the given field and discussed topics
Further conditions of admission to Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in the academic year of 2010-2011 are indicated in the Guideline No. 2 / 2009 of the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
