Applied Informatics
The aim of the study program is to prepare students for both the study of the second level graduate program as well as to the immediate entry into the labour market. Graduates of the Bachelor's degree in Applied Informatics are able to cope with the constantly increasing demands of scientific, technical and economic development in the digital century.
Prospects of graduates
Our graduates will acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical experience of creating network and web applications, the creation, operation and maintenance of centralized and distributed electronic information and administrative systems, computer networks. They have the ability to use their theoretical knowledge and relevant tools in designing, implementing and updating computer networks.
Our graduates will be able to analyze, implement, modify and modernize computer and information systems. They will be able to find their own original solutions to designing and using information systems. The graduates acquire an internal need for permanent education; they can monitor the development of computer systems and information technologies, update their knowledge and develop their skills. They will be able to use the principles of effective work with information of various kinds coming from different sources, including the Internet. They are also ablo to operate computer and software systems efficiently and to present technical problems and their solutions. At the same time, our graduates are ready to receive a second level of university education in the mentioned field.
Our graduates will be able to use at least one world language actively and another one language passively. They will be prepared to solve complex projects and to present their results independently, to work efficiently as members of teams, to be able to organize and manage the team's work, to develop their own business activities or to set up their own company. They will be capable of being employed as managers, analysts, system designers and specialists in the sectors of banking, insurance, consulting, and wide range of industries or in the field of education.
Their knowledge will be applicable in the field of design of information systems in all kinds of businesses, organizations and services, such as banking, administration, transport and health, in the implementation, innovation and maintenance of technical equipment and software.

The basic requirements for admission to bachelor study are to obtain full secondary education or full secondary vocational education.
Another requirement for admission to Bachelor's degree programs is the delivery of the signed application form to the faculty with all the required attachments (structured curriculum vitae, notary certified exam photocopy of graduation certificate – excluding the final leaving certificate of the applicant graduated in the relevant school year) no later than 10 working days after the deadline for filing the application.
For enquirers applying for a Bachelor's degree program Applied Informatics, priority will be given to applicants who have passed final leaving examination in Mathematics or Informatics.
The rank of admitted candidates will be determined by the average of their result of their final leaving examination.
The admission of the candidates is decided by the Dean of EF UJS. Notice of acceptance / rejection will be delivered by a registered letter posted to the applicants. In the case of a low number of applicants for a study program, the Faculty (in the Dean's decision) reserves the right not to open a study program and, according to the possibilities of the Faculty, offer the participants possibility to continue their studies in another study program at UJS.
Additional information
- The primary language of the Faculty of Economics at J. Selye University is the Hungarian language.
- The tuition fees are specified by internal regulations of the university.
Conditions for international students
The requisites for admission of foreign students are the same as the requisites of admission for the citizens of the Slovak Republic. The completion of secondary education in any foreign country must be certified. Recognition of evidence of education is regulated by Sections 33-39 of Act no. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of evidence of education and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment of certain laws. Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
Admission of applicants to the first stage of study is carried out without entrance examinations. The condition of admission is to file a completed application for university studies within a specified time.
