Physiotherapy

The aim of the educational activity of students in the first stage of higher education is, through the educational process, preparation in the study field of Health Sciences in the study programme Physiotherapy for the performance of independent activities requiring professional erudition, independence in work, decision-making, personal responsibility in physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation, in prevention, in primary, secondary, tertiary and follow-up health care.
Other goals of the educational process are to educate and train independence in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and other related conditions in rehabilitation departments, outpatient centers, spas, fitness studios, nursing care agencies, and others.
Supervised students perform methodological and analytical work, participate in the development of physical therapy plans and procedures, with the support and utilization of active, conceptual, creative skills. Students participate in the techniques, methodologies, physiotherapeutic and balneological procedures used, in which they have the opportunity to discover and learn hydrotherapy, occupational therapy and electrotherapy in all clinical disciplines (neurology, orthopaedics, surgery, traumatology, gynaecology, internal medicine and paediatrics).

Additional information

There are two study programmes accredited at the Faculty of Physiotherapy in the first cycle of higher education in full-time and external form in the study programme Physiotherapy and in the study programme Radiological Technology. In the second level of higher education there is an accredited study programme Physiotherapy in full-time and part-time form. The third level of higher education of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava is provided in the study programme Physiotherapy in full-time and part-time form from AR 2022/2023.
The study is carried out under the guidance of experienced lecturers, external lectures are also given by top experts from other institutions. Practical teaching takes place in contracted medical facilities, e.g. in Piešt'any, Trnava, Bratislava, Kováčová and others. In addition to studying, students have the opportunity to engage in scientific activities, participate in professional congresses and symposia, and complete foreign internships. FZV organizes, supports social and sports activities of students.

The same admission conditions and good knowledge of the Slovak language apply to foreign students.

General information on the admission exam

a) written examination biology with a focus on human anatomy and physiology test, the content of which corresponds to the level of secondary school curriculum - the test consists of 50 questions, the time limit is 45 minutes. The test is written on tablets provided by the faculty.
b) verification of physical abilities - athletics (boat race). Running around 2 targets spaced 10 m apart. It is run 2 times in an "figure eight" manner (40 m total). The time limit is 15 seconds. Evaluation: pass/fail. It is advisable to bring sports shoes to the gym.
The candidates with the highest number of points in the test (correct answers), who have also passed the physical ability test, will be admitted.
