Biotechnology
Graduates of the bachelor's study programme Biotechnology are able to apply in the production sphere of the economy their knowledge gained from biotechnology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, but also from selected specialized and related areas, especially microbiology, food quality, toxicology, material and energy balances in production processes. Graduates are capable of minimal basic communication in scientific English.
Graduates are able to apply themselves as:
highly skilled workers (laboratory technician, operator) in industry (chemical, food), pharmacy and health care,
as graduates also have practical habits and fundamentals in analytical, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, biology and biotechnology (especially using microbiology), they are also optimally prepared to perform laboratory work in science, research and development,
thanks to the biotechnological foundations, they will also find employment in the field of energy production from renewable sources and the use of secondary raw materials from such and similar production,
since they are already able to orientate themselves in economic, legal and ethical aspects of biotechnology, designing and marketing basics, they are able to move the implementation of experimentally confirmed scientific hypotheses to the business level, as well as to the production of products with higher added value (for example, products with a share of biotechnological processing, but also in the provision of biotechnological services),
have knowledge that allows them to apply at the middle management levels of related activities in production and business practice.
Graduates of the study programme are applied in chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, environmental research and operational facilities, in the production sphere in the monitoring of the natural environment, processing and use of databases. 90% of students continue their higher education studies at the 2nd level in the field of Biotechnology or in one of the related fields.

The basic condition for admission to the bachelor's programme is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education (§ 56 (1) 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts).
The admission procedure is conducted without an entrance examination.
For the admission of an applicant to the Bachelor's study programme, the data on the course of studies at secondary school will be decisive.
In determining the score, the following is simultaneously taken into account:
- the study average at secondary school without the matriculation examination,
- the result of the matriculation examination.
Students who have completed their studies at foreign universities, foreign students, shall submit nostrified documents on completed studies in accordance with Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the Recognition of Documents on Education and on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts.

The application form must include:
- CV,
- proof of payment of the admission fee,
- high school report cards for 1-4. year officially certified (registrar/notary)
- high school leaving certificate officially certified (registrar/notary)
An applicant who is graduating in the school year 2024/2025 shall list on the application form the grades from the end-of-year leaving certificates for grades 1.-3.
In the case of a five-year course of study, he/she writes out the grades for the 2nd-4th year, which he/she has the secondary school certify in the application form, or he/she submits the officially certified (by the registry office/notary) certificates mentioned above in the application form.

The applicant who has graduated before the school year 2024/2025 shall list the grades from the end-of-year report cards for the 1st-4th year of the school year in the application form.

The applicant shall deliver the grades for the 1st-4th year (2nd-5th year) and the matriculation certificate officially certified (by the registry office/notary public) no later than 14 June 2025.
