Horticulture
A graduate of the Bachelor's degree in Horticulture presents a university-educated professional. He/she is able to use regulatory cultivation technologies, including the application of mineral nutrients and protective agents. He/she is qualified to manage the operation, maintenance and management of indoor production.
Prospects of graduates
Graduates of the Bachelor's study programme Horticulture are applied as specialists in all forms of horticultural production and downstream processing units, in marketing, in trade, in research, in education, in state administration, in state veterinary and food administration. Graduates are also applied as technical workers in horticultural operations, in small and medium-sized horticulture as consultants for the application of propagation technologies, plant protection, treatment of fruit and ornamental trees and vines, as heads of laboratories for plant micropropagation, in diagnostic centres for the quality of plants and their products.

BASIC CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY
The basic condition for admission to the study according to §56 (1) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended, is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education. Secondary schools with the greatest prerequisite for related studies at FZKI SPU in Nitra are: e.g. grammar schools of all types, secondary vocational schools of horticultural, agrotechnical, agricultural, forestry, woodworking, artistic, construction and technical orientation, as well as secondary schools focused on surveying, environment, tourism and rural development.
Additional information
- a candidate may apply for more than one study programme implemented at the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering (within one admission fee) on one application form (electronically),
- the application form includes certified (notary, registry office) copy of the matriculation certificate in the case of applicants who graduated earlier than in 2023, or earlier than the application deadline, which must be sent by post to the Study Department of the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Tulipánova 7, 949 76 Nitra,
- The application form includes a completed table of grades from the final three years verified/confirmed by the secondary school (the verified table of grades can be sent by post after graduation together with the verified school leaving certificate), applicants who graduated earlier than in 2023 will send photocopies of the school leaving certificates for 1, 2 and 3. Secondary school year - they do not need to be certified together with copy of matriculation certificate,
- invitation to the entrance talent test and admission interview or admission decision will only be sent to applicants who attach proof of payment of the admission fee to their application form,
- incomplete applications (e.g. without proof of payment of the fee) will not be accepted,
- faculty will send information on how to conduct the talent entrance examination and how to conduct the interview to applicants for studies, and, if necessary, further information on the admission procedure after the registration of a complete application for studies,
- strong>student applicants must send a certified copy of their matriculation certificate(unless it was not included in the application form) as soon as possible to the Study Department of the Faculty of Physical Education and Culture at the following address:

Information for international applicants or applicants who have graduated abroad
In addition to the required attachments, foreign applicants or applicants who have graduated abroad are required to attach a Decision on Recognition of Education Document to the application form (http://www.uniag.sk/en/admission-requirements/).The Recognition Decision is issued by the competent Regional Education Administration Office of the applicant's place of residence. The procedure for the processing of the above-mentioned documents is set out on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic

In the case of a foreign applicant without a residence permit in the Slovak Republic, the decision is issued by the Regional Office of School Administration in Nitra, J. Vuruma 1, 949 01 Nitra application for recognition of an education document.
The basic condition for admission to studies according to §56 (1) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended, is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education. In the case of persons who have been granted asylum, subsidiary protection or temporary refuge, this requirement may be demonstrated by an affidavit and a general aptitude test. Details will be determined by the faculties in the admission requirements.
Foreign applicants (the exception is applicants from the Czech Republic) who will study a study programme offered in the Slovak language at the SPU in Nitra must compulsorily pass an online test aimed at determining the level of their linguistic competence in the Slovak language. The testing is provided by the SPU Language Centre in Nitra on two dates: 28.5.2024 and 23.7.2024.
On the basis of the test results, the applicant will be issued with a certificate of his/her language proficiency level (levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The test and the certificate are subject to a fee (test: EUR 20,-, certificate: EUR 10,-).
If the applicant's level of linguistic competence is below A1, the applicant will not be admitted to the course.
If the applicant's language proficiency level is A1, the applicant has fulfilled one of the conditions for admission to the study, but will be obliged to attend a 30-hour paid Slovak language course organised by the Centre of Languages of the SPU in Nitra (course fee: 120,- EUR). The course will run from 26.8.2024 - 6.9.2024. Upon completion of the course, the applicant will be issued with a certificate of completion.
If the applicant's level of language proficiency is A2 or above, the applicant has fulfilled one of the conditions for admission to the course.

The selection of candidates for the study programmes Landscape Engineering and Horticulture will be realized by an admission interview (the candidate will appear in person for the interview on the appointed date) and by ranking the candidates according to the results of their studies from secondary school, where the qualitative indicator will be the study average of the grades achieved in the first three years and the results of the admission interview. This admission principle applies to applicants who are applying to study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Culture for the first time.
