The graduate possesses knowledge from individual areas of the field of study and its interdisciplinary contexts at the level of synthesis, namely from the basics of theories of social work, methods, techniques and forms of social work in direct and mediated work with client groups of social work, from the basics of philosophy, ethics, sociology, psychology, pedagogy and law, social policy and the system of social security and social insurance, the functioning of the system of social services, social protection of children and social guardianship, assistance in material need, compensation for severe disabilities, employment services, and the characteristics of poverty and social exclusion and concepts of social inclusion in interdisciplinary contexts. It is oriented in the legislation currently in force. The student is familiar with the basic characteristics and specific features of individual client groups in social work and the basics of methodology and statistics in social work. The graduate is able to provide information and basic individual and group counselling services and to carry out professional activities in the field of sickness and pension benefits, state social support contributions, social services, socio-legal protection of children and social guardianship, assistance in material need, cash contributions to compensate for severe disabilities, employment services. Possesses professional communication skills. Is able to work in a team and strengthen interdisciplinary and interprofessional cooperation, is able to mediate contact with actors in the social environment (institutions and professionals) concerned by a given social problem.
Prospects of graduates
Graduates have the opportunity to work at all levels and sections of social work practice as social work assistants: in the department of the central state administration bodies (Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the SR, Office of Social Welfare), at the level of local and regional self-government - cities / municipalities, self-governing regions, in state administration institutions (Office of Social Welfare), in social service institutions, in institutions of social-legal protection of children and social curatorship, in third sector organizations, but especially in community care (community centers), at the local level in the framework of social work fieldwork.
They can also be employed as professional decision-makers in the field of employment services, as professional workers in the field of cash allowances to compensate for the consequences of severe disabilities or as professional workers in the field of assistance in material need and state social benefits.
