Regional Development and Policies of the EU

In accordance with the description of the field of study 3.3.5 Public Administration and Regional Development (2nd level), graduates of the study programme Regional development and Policies of the EU have the knowledge of economic theory and policy, regional economics and politics, theories of management of public administration and public sector, administrative law, methods of analysis and management of economic and social processes. Based on the obtained knowledge, graduates are able to analyze and explain the socio-economic processes in the competence of public administration and local authorities; specify, design and implement software solutions and manage each step of the creation and implementation of programmes and projects, and identify crucial problems related to the objectives of the European regional policy and other community policies, includingapplication of adequate instruments of its implementation.

Graduates can successfully work as senior staff of departments and sections of state and local governments at the national, regional and local levels as well as professionals in the EU institutions. Furthermore, they can work in entities engaged in regional and local development (non-profit organizations, civic associations), where they are able to design and implement the development programmes and projects.



Prospects of graduates

Graduates are able to solve complex problems of social practise at local, regional and state governmental levels, while using theoretical knowledge obtained during the study of the professional subjects. Graduates are able to define development strategies in rural municipalities and regions, they know the tools necessary for their realization and they can apply them in practise in a creative manner. They are able to make decisions individually, as well as to work in teams as managers or professionals in the field of regional and spatial development. They are able to communicate with co-workers and subordinate workers. They know how to use public relations methods and techniques.

Conditions of admission

The criterion for admission is:

-       completion of the Bachelor study

-       study results reached during the Bachelor study

 

            weighted study average

1,00 – 1,30    40 points                                                                                            

1,31 – 1,65    30 points                                                                                            

1,66 – 2,00    20 points                                       

³ 2,01            10 points

 

Applicants for study with the highest number of obtained points will be accepted. Applicant for study can obtain the maximum of 40 points.



Additional information

Study programe in full-time is free of charge and in external form of study is charged.

Annual tuition fee: 800 €.

The fee for admission procedure (without entrance examination and interview) is paid by bank tranfer, or through internetbanking, not by postal order.



Conditions for international students

Applicants who have completed any previous higher education studies abroad are required to submit the Decision on Recognition of a Proof of Completed Education no later than on the date of registration to the 1st year of Master studies.

The Recognition of the Proof of Completed Education shall be decided by (within the meaning of § 33-35 of the Act No. 422/2015 Coll.):

a) a university in the Slovak Republic carrying out the study programmes in either the same or related fields of study as defined in the provided document on education; 

b) Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the SR, if there is no university carrying out the study programmes in either the same or related fields of study as defined in the provided document in the Slovak Republic.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
  1. The decision on the result of the admission procedure shall be sent to applicants within 30 days from verification of fulfilment of the conditions for admission to study. Applicants having unknown residence shall be able to see the results on the official notice board of the Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development of the SUA in Nitra within the period of 15 days. The last day of the period shall be deemed to be the delivery date.
  2. Applicants may submit a request for the review of the decision to the Dean of the FESRD within 8 days from its delivery date.
  3. Applicants admitted to study of any study programme are obliged to provide the Faculty with the information on whether they will or will not enroll at the study in accordance with instructions received in electronic form togehter with the decision on admission (electronic pre-enrollment confirmations is part of  the Decision).
  4. Applicants’ personal data (first name, surname, birth identification number, address, etc.) will be used in compliance with the Act on protection of personal data and for the purposes of the admission procedure only and shall not be provided for any other purposes.
  5. The Faculty reserves the right not to open any study programme in full-time and/or part-time forms, which is applied for by a small number of applicants. In this case, the faculty offers to applicant another accredited study programme. If applicant is not interested in studying an alternative study programme, application to study, all of its annexes, as well as the admission procedure fee, shall be returned to the applicant.

General information on the admission exam

Compulsory annexes to the application form in electronic form:

  • verified copy of bachelor diploma, certificate of state examination and diploma supplement of the 1stlevel of study (expect of applicants, who completed bachelor level of study at FESRD SUA in Nitra),
  • In study programs carried out in a combination of Slovak and English language verified copy of the English language certificate (at level B2 of the CEFR or at least 5.5 overall score of the IELTS), in case the applicant is not a holder of  the language proficiency certificate, the  applicant has the right to request by mail  the  Deans  office to allow him to demonstrate the language abilities the entrance examination through SKYPE interview, resp. in another way acceptable to both parties no later than 10 calendar days before the entrance examination.
