Manažment v turizme a hotelierstve

Unique study programme with a wide application of the graduate, which has not been possible to study in such a structure in Slovakia so far. Already during the studies the student can travel and get to know new cultures within the framework of relevant ERASMUS programmes or collect practical experience in contracted tourism organisations. During the studies the student will learn how to manage the operation of tourism businesses, how they can be developed, how to create and manage their own business plan in the field of tourism, gain knowledge in the field of economics and management.



Prospects of graduates

After graduation, the student is able to apply not only as a manager in tourism, but is also able to independently in the field of tourism business, or work in regional / regional tourism organizations, tourist and information centers or regional development agencies in positions such as:

  • hotel manager
  • restaurant manager
  • F&B manager
  • hotel manager
  • tourism guide

Conditions of admission

There are no written or oral admission interviews for the study programme Management in Tourism and Hotel Management. The Admissions Committee will be based on the qualitative indicators listed below and will determine the ranking of students on the basis of the best results achieved, including other achievements (e.g. placement in district, regional and national Olympiads and competitions.)

The application form includes a resume, a receipt for payment of the admission fee, certified copies of the end-of-year secondary school report cards for years 1 to 3 (years 2 to 4 in the case of a five-year course) and a copy of the school leaving certificate (or equivalent). For applicants graduating in the 2021/2022 academic year, the secondary school will certify the results of their studies. Applicants shall send their school-leaving certificate (fourth or fifth year) and the school-leaving certificate (certified copy) immediately after the school-leaving examination, but no later than 10 June 2022.

Students who have completed their studies at foreign schools and all foreign students shall submit nostrified documents of their studies in accordance with Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the Recognition of Educational Proofs and on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts. In case of time disproportions between the issuance and nostrification of the required documents, students will inform the study department of the Institute of Management UCM and arrange special conditions for the presentation of the nostrified documents.

For the admission of an applicant to the Slovak version of the Bachelor's degree programme who has passed the new matriculation examination, the following are indicative:

a) The average marks for each year of study (in all subjects)

b) Grades in profile subjects:

for the SP Management in Tourism and Hospitality:

- Slovak language and literature (not valid for foreign students - see information below)

- History (or equivalent)

- economics (or equivalent)

- foreign language (one of the world languages)

c) passing the external part of the matriculation examination in a foreign language subject at least at B1 level, graduating from a bilingual secondary school or obtaining an international certificate in a foreign language at least at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

For admission to the bachelor's degree programme Tourism and Hotel Management for applicants who have graduated under the old regulations, the following are indicative:

(a) the average of the marks for all years of study

(b) the grades in the profile subjects:

The following profile subjects will be taken into consideration for both degree programmes:

- Slovak language and literature

- History (or equivalent subject)

- economics (subject equivalent)

- foreign language (one of the world languages)

(c) the overall result of the matriculation examination

The Admissions Committee will qualitatively rank the applicants according to the average of the marks on the report cards for the individual years of study and on the basis of the average of the marks in the above-mentioned profile subjects from the secondary school. Another qualitative criterion will be the overall result of the matriculation examination (or its equivalent) and the achievements achieved during the secondary school studies, which must be documented within the prescribed deadlines.



Conditions for international students

Conditions for admission of foreign students to the Slovak version of Bc. study programmes are the same as for students from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students studying in Slovak language study programmes must meet the condition of good knowledge of Slovak language (minimum B1 level). This proficiency must be demonstrated by a certificate. The foreign student must have reached the age of majority on the day of entry to the 1st year of bachelor studies according to the legislation in force in the Slovak Republic.

The following will be relevant for the admission of an applicant to a Bachelor's degree programme who has passed the new Baccalaureate examination:

(a) the average of the marks for all years of study

b) the grades in the profile subjects:

for the specialisation Tourism and Hospitality Management:

- Slovak language and literature

- History (or equivalent subject)

- Economics (or equivalent)

- foreign language

c) passing the external part of the matriculation examination in a foreign language subject at least at B1 level, graduating from a bilingual secondary school or obtaining an international certificate in a foreign language at least at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

(c) achievements

For admission to the Bachelor's degree programme of a candidate who has graduated under the old regulations, the following will be indicative for the School of Management in Tourism and Hospitality:

(a) the average of the marks for all years of study

(b) grades in profile subjects:

for the Management in Tourism and Hospitality:

- Slovak language and literature

- History (or equivalent subject)

- Economics (or equivalent)

- foreign language

(c) the overall result of the matriculation examination
