European Studies
At the IESIR, lectures are given by people who are leaders in their field, and because of this, you may have seen and heard them in the media, or even met them in person during discussions at your high school. For example, our dean Lucia Mokrá - a renowned expert in international law, Olga Gyárfášová, the director of the institute and an expert in public opinion research and voter behaviour, Andrej Findor, who studies attitudes towards minorities and especially ways to lead people to greater tolerance, and many others.
Most of the teaching is in English, with some courses taught by native speakers, such as Britain's Karen Henderson, and American David Reichhart, among others.
In addition to in-house lecturers, we also offer courses taught by freelancers who have extensive experience in NGOs, media and legal practice.
During your studies you can take part in internships in interesting workplaces in the public administration and the non-profit sector. After graduation, you will appreciate the experience gained in the National Assembly of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, or in an NGO.
Our students successfully participate in international educational
Regional Academy of the United Nations (RAUN) programme, where they are mentored by staff of specialized
UN agencies, and the Model United Nations (MUN) competition, where they experience a simulated UN negotiation - providing
im excellent training for a possible diplomatic career.
