European Studies
The lectures at the IESMV are given by people who are leaders in their field, and because of this you may
already seen and heard in the media, or even met in person at high school discussions. For example, our dean Lucia Mokrá - a renowned expert in international law, Olga Gyárfášová, the director of the institute and an expert in public opinion research and voter behaviour, Andrej Findor, who studies attitudes towards minorities and especially ways to lead people to greater tolerance, and many others.
Most of the teaching is in English, with some courses taught by native speakers, such as Britain's Karen Henderson, and American David Reichhart, among others.
In addition to in-house lecturers, we also offer courses taught by freelancers who have extensive experience in NGOs, media and legal practice.
During your studies you can participate in internships at interesting public workplaces
government and in the non-profit sector. You will certainly appreciate the experience gained in the National Assembly after graduation, MZVaEZ SR, or in an NGO.
Our students successfully participate in international educational Regional Academy of the United Nations (RAUN) programme, where they are mentored by staff of specialized UN agencies, and the Model United Nations (MUN) competition, where they experience a simulated UN negotiation - providing im excellent training for a possible diplomatic career.
Prospects of graduates
In the framework of the Master's degree, students will learn the theoretical and methodological foundations of an interdisciplinary approach to the study of European integration processes in the fields of political science, legal disciplines and economics as a basis for the development of specific analytical skills (political and economic analysis and interpretation of empirical data). They will acquire general knowledge from the studied programme enabling them to specialise in the field of political science, international relations with a focus on European integration, in public policy and administration and, on the basis of individual dispositions, in other areas of professional application.
The graduates of the second degree participate in research with a high degree of creativity and independence and are able to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations and problems related to their application in professional activity.
