Ethics in public relations and business protocol

Prospects of graduates

A graduate of the Ethics of Public Relations and Business Protocol program within the philosophy major will find employment in a number of fields. Based on applicable knowledge, skills and competencies, the graduate will be able to capitalize on the given strengths in resolving moral conflicts, in areas that are ethically ambiguous and predict the necessity of professional ethical decisions. The knowledge, skills and competences predispose him to work as a mediator, ethical advisor, in the creation of ethical codes, in the private sector, in the public sector, in the third sector, in the field of education, in the field of government, etc. They are also applicable for positions such as ethical managers of different management levels, ethical officers who supervise the actual implementation of the code of ethics in the organisation, as specialised staff for applied ethics, as supervisors of human rights in different areas of the economy, public and state administration, etc. Graduates offer their knowledge with a view to improving moral and ethical competences in various areas of social and working life as well as in the educational field (business and commercial field, science, education, state and public administration, media field, civil society, etc.).

They are also responsible for the development of ethical and moral competences in various areas of social and working life.

The graduate of the study programme can occupy several positions within the national system of professions. One of them is the Social Responsibility Specialist (2435005). The job is to oversee the ethical management of the company, care for employees, check environmental compliance and cooperation with the local community. This position oversees responsible procurement and its compliance with other rules and stakeholders. Another of the applicable positions for a graduate of this study programme is Philosopher (2633001), especially in independent scientific research work in higher education institutions, in private companies dealing with ethical auditing, balancing and expertise issues, and in research institutes with a pedagogical and environmental professional-ethical orientation. He/she can work in institutions focusing on human needs, urbanisation, migration, refugees, and in the field of teaching at universities (or, if the necessary requirements are met, also at secondary schools). In private and public institutions, the graduate can also be employed as a Compliance Specialist (2619017), where he/she is in charge of monitoring compliance with regulatory rules and regulations by these institutions. In the current environment of constant dynamic changes in various regulations and rules, he/she is able to ensure that the organization is able to identify and control existing regulatory risks or analyze the impact of non-compliance of legislation with internal regulations. Graduates of this degree programme may also be employed as a Consultant in Intercultural Communication (2432.4 ESCO), where they are responsible for social interaction between parties from different cultures, can advise organisations on international interactions in order to optimise their performance, and facilitate cooperation and positive interaction with organisations and individuals from other cultures as well. Finally, the graduate is also employable as a Public Relations Specialist (2432.9 ESCO), where the graduate can present the company or organisation in a quality manner to the public, stakeholders, using communication and other competences to promote understanding of the activities and reputation of the own organisation and its clients. Thus, the following positions are applicable: within the National Occupational Framework as Philosopher (2633001), Social Responsibility Specialist (2435005), Compliance Specialist (2619017). Specifically, within the European Classification of Skills, Competences and Occupations, ESCOs can be employed as Intercultural Communication Consultants (2432.4 ESCO) and, finally, as Public Relations Specialists (2432.9 ESCO).

The qualification obtained by the graduate of the study programme will enable him/her to fully participate in the exercise of several professions, in particular:
- specialist in social responsibility (ethical management of the enterprise, care for employees, control of environmental compliance and cooperation with the local community),
- philosopher (in the ethical context, especially in independent scientific research work at higher education institutions, in private companies dealing with issues of ethical auditing, balancing and expertise, and in research institutes with pedagogical and environmental professional-ethical orientation),
- public relations specialist (presentation of the company to the public and stakeholders),
- compliance specialist (checking the compliance of regulations and the status of processes in organizations),
- consultant of intercultural communication (social interaction between representatives of different cultures, consulting in the field of international interactions, in order to optimize the interactions of organizations from different countries of the world)

The graduation from the study programme should ensure the availability of knowledge, skills and competences that the graduate will capitalize especially in the following contexts:
- creation of ethical instruments, ethical regulations and documents, ethical program in companies, coordination of ethical committees, implementation of ethical audits, operation of ethical hotlines, creation of ethical codes of various types (professional, sectoral, corporate),
- implementation of educational events on ethics with various target groups (management, employees of the organization, students, etc.
- scientific philosophical work with a focus on ethics (basic prerequisites for elementary scientific performance at the level of articles, studies, work in scientific teams in research and scientific institutions),
- public relations skills, managing the flow of information between the public and the organization, disposition to act as a press spokesperson,
- creation, control and management of business protocol, preparation of business negotiations, including at the international level with partners from other cultures.

Conditions of admission

The admission procedure begins with the delivery of a duly completed application form with the relevant attachments to the address of the school.
- Applicants for studies at the first level of university studies are admitted on the basis of an assessment of the results achieved in secondary school.
