History and Theory of Arts
The graduate of the bachelor's degree will acquire a foundation in the history and theory of art and a basic knowledge of the history of culture across the entire time span from prehistory to the present. At the same time, the student will gain an overview of the auxiliary historical sciences and a basic education in philosophy and aesthetics. The student will acquire basic skills in independent research and fieldwork. He/she will become familiar with the legislation concerning the protection of cultural heritage and museum and gallery work.
Prospects of graduates
The graduate is able to continue his/her studies at the second level, or to apply in practice within cultural institutions and, after obtaining additional pedagogical studies, also in teaching at primary and secondary schools.

The Faculty of Arts of the University of Trnava in Trnava (hereinafter referred to as TU) plans to admit approximately 400 students to bachelor's studies in the academic year 2025/26, depending on the amount of the allocated budget and the fulfilment of the basic and other admission requirements.
The appropriate type of application form must be used for admission.
The basic condition for admission to the Bachelor's degree (Bachelor's degree) is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education.
The Faculty of Philosophy of the TU reserves the right to make any changes and updates in order to improve the quality of the admission procedure, in accordance with Section 57 (5) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education as amended by later regulations.
Applicants shall submit a completed application form to the address of the Faculty's seat: Faculty of Arts, University of Trnava, Hornopotočná 23, 918 43 Trnava.
The application form includes:
- confirmation of payment of the fee for the admission procedure
- in case of applying for Bachelor's degree programmes, certified copies of the end-of-year report cards and the matriculation certificate (applicants graduating in the school year 2024/2025 will have their results for the 1st - 3rd year confirmed by the secondary school, certified copies of the 4th year report card and the matriculation certificate will be sent to the applicants by 9 June 2025)
The admission procedure for an applicant to study begins on the date of receipt of his/her written application. For this reason, an applicant who submits his/her application electronically must also submit it in writing, signed and duly documented (proof of payment of the admission fee, etc.). The electronic application form must be confirmed by a hard copy application form with signature.
If the applicant does not complete the required parts of the application form within the deadline after being asked to complete the missing parts of the application form, he/she will be excluded from the admission procedure. The admission fee will not be refunded. The final verification of fulfillment of the admission requirements will be done at the admission committee meeting in the month of June and July 2025 with the support of the modular academic information system.

Candidates who will be admitted on the basis of competitive examination will send the attested copies of their certificates within two days after passing the examination.
The faculty does not require confirmation of the applicant's medical condition. If it is necessary to take a disability into account in the admissions examination process, the applicant must enclose with his/her application a certificate of disability and the recommended form of examination.
Applicants may also submit multiple applications to the College. For each study programme it is necessary to submit a new application and pay the fee of 40,- € again.
Applicants who have completed a lower degree abroad shall submit nostrified documents of education in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 422/2015 Coll. A receipt for the payment of the admission fee (in the amount of € 40.-) must be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form. In case of non-attendance at the entrance examination, the fee is not refundable. The Admissions Committee decides on the points required for admission.
Additional information
FF TU offers its students accommodation, the services of the university library, departmental libraries, a range of specialised classrooms and departments such as video presentation classrooms, multimedia classrooms, a multifunctional auditorium, a PhD students' office, a Communication Centre, a central IT system, a Modular Academic Information System, a University Pastoral Centre, psychological counselling services, a university canteen, and a number of other support services.
Conditions for international students
Applicants who have completed a lower level of studies abroad shall submit proof of equivalence of studies at secondary schools abroad pursuant to Act No.422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of documents on education and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment and supplementation of certain acts.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
Applicants will be admitted without an entrance exam. Admission will be based on the results of secondary school studies, taking into account the profile subjects: Slovak language, English language, social studies. In the event of a tie, preference will be given to applicants with a better average in the profile subjects. The condition for admission is completion of secondary education and submission of officially certified end-of-year report cards for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year and an officially certified matriculation certificate.
