- finds and presents its own solutions to problems in research, development, design, engineering and manufacturing in engineering;
- possesses knowledge about the construction and design of machines and equipment, about the design and construction of transport and handling equipment in the context of engineering production; the acquired knowledge can be used, for example, in the design, manufacture and control of production machines and equipment, but also, for example, in the technological processes of the production of semi-finished and semi-finished products, in the technology of the production of components and their control, in the complex management of complex socio-technical systems (e.g. collaborative robotics);
- has knowledge of measurement theory, information and communication technologies for metrological tasks, can use principles and tools of engineering and quality management; knows information systems enabling data collection, processing and analysis, control of experiments, production processes and materials processing;
- knows basic manufacturing technologies with emphasis on machining of conventional as well as difficult-to-machine materials, or the application of non-conventional, additive and hybrid manufacturing technologies, and can identify problems associated with the implementation and operation of manufacturing-technology systems in which these advanced technologies can be implemented;
- have adequate engineering knowledge of design, manufacturing, testing, process engineering, hydraulics, mechatronics, robotics and appropriate knowledge of computer aided engineering manufacturing;
- understands the operational, financial, safety and energy balances of engineering production processes and can analyse and evaluate them;
- this knowledge can be applied in the operation of industrial engineering enterprises, in the automotive industry, in the bearing industry, in areas of engineering technology and in other organisations of a manufacturing, operational or diagnostic nature.
Graduates of the Automated Manufacturing Systems study programme also find their application with regard to their specialisation (shaped by the choice of their study plan) in the following areas:
- as specialists in the design of automated production and assembly systems, robotic cells, technological units based on convex and CNC production machines and equipment. Furthermore, as programmers of industrial robots and manipulators, programmers of CNC production machines and in general equipment based on control systems using PC, PLC or I-PC. They are equally at home as specialists in machine and equipment diagnostics; developers and application engineers of mechatronic equipment in a wide variety of industries.
- as engineers and specialists in the field of mechanical engineering production oriented towards chip technology - cutting process analysts, cutting tool specialists, engineers in bearing production and production of components made of difficult-to-machine materials based on nickel and titanium superalloys (e.g. production of dental implant support elements), specialists in metrology and quality of mechanical engineering production, innovation of production processes, etc.
Because of the acquired knowledge and skills not only of a professional/specialized nature, but also a certain portfolio of transferable competencies, our graduates are able to apply themselves in associated areas of the economy or as self-employed persons, etc.

The basic condition for admission to engineering studies (second-degree study programme) is the acquisition of a first-degree university degree (Act on Higher Education No.131/2002 Coll., as amended). In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his/her studies abroad, he/she shall submit with his/her application for university studies, no later than at the time of enrolment, a decision on the recognition of the proof of completion of the first degree by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic, or shall apply to UNIZA for the recognition of the proof of education.
Other admission conditions
Other conditions of admission of applicants to the study programmes of engineering studies of the Faculty of Engineering of UNIZA are set according to § 57 of the Act. The admission procedure shall be conducted in the form of a selection procedure in order to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and prerequisites enter the study.
Additional information
All information regarding the admission procedure is published on the faculty's website:
https://www.fstroj.uniza.sk/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=page&id=219
Conditions for international students
For foreign applicants, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students studying in a language other than the national language pay tuition fees according to the conditions set out in Section 92(8) of the Higher Education Act. Tuition fees are set by a UNIZA directive and published for the relevant academic year on the University's website. Foreign students studying in the Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the form valid in the Czech Republic to apply for studies. Applicants who do not have an active knowledge of Slovak or Czech are required to successfully complete language training (with the possibility of completing it at UNIZA).
For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral agreements or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.
Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
Without an entrance exam, applicants who have achieved a B.Sc. up to 2,6 /including the state final examination/ and have completed a study programme in the field of mechanical engineering.
In the case of graduation from a study programme in another field of study, the guarantor of the relevant study programme will decide on the possibility of admitting the applicant without an entrance examination. In the event that the number of applicants /VP ≤ 2.6/ exceeds the capacity of the given study programme, all applicants will be admitted on the basis of the result of the entrance examination.
