Applied Social Work
Characteristics of the study programme
We provide Master of Social Work education in accordance with the recommendations of the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) and other international guidelines, including the European Qualifications Framework. The second cycle of higher education in Social Work provides the student with the knowledge, skills and competencies to work and manage in public administration institutions as well as in social service organisations. Students learn to perceive the diversity as well as the complexity' of social problems at different levels of social work practice, in particular by identifying the systemic contexts of social work theory and social policy in the domestic and international context. Students are taught to think critically and are encouraged to develop analytical thinking and understanding of the nature of the origins, process and consequences of problems for individuals, groups and communities or society. The study programme aims to prepare students theoretically and practically to implement complex solutions, teaching them to use modern methods, techniques and means in solving problems of social clients. Already during their studies, students become experts in the field of social planning, counselling, supervision, social management and further education. The study uses a predominantly full-time format with the addition of e-learning forms of learning.
Prospects of graduates
The graduate of social work has the opportunity to apply on the labour market as a social worker with competence to work in the social field within the public and state administration as well as the third sector.
